Michael Garrett Shanks (born December 15, 1970) is a Canadian actor, writer and director. He is known for playing Dr. Daniel Jackson in the long-running Canadian–American military science fiction television series Stargate SG-1 from 1997 to 2007 and as Dr. Charles Harris on the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope. He also played the reincarnating superhero Hawkman in several episodes of the later seasons of Smallville.

He has been married to Lexa Doig since August 2, 2003. They have two children.

He appeared in two episodes of the revival series from 1998 to 2000:
